The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO Aviance) strengthens its corporate social responsibility initiatives by commissioning five borehole projects. These projects, located strategically in Badagry, Lagos State, and Ode-Aye, Ondo State, aim to enhance clean water access for communities. NAHCO’s Group Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Indranil Gupta, emphasized the importance of a “maintenance culture for borehole projects” during his address. He expressed optimism that such sustainability efforts would lead to even greater positive impacts on education and community development.

Speaking at the Ode-Aye event, Mr. Gupta, represented by AGM Corporate Communications, Mr. Tayo Ajakaye, encouraged recipients to ensure facility upkeep. Additionally, he highlighted that proper maintenance would encourage NAHCO and other donors to continue supporting such initiatives. “If we return in a year and find these boreholes functional, it will inspire us to expand this initiative,” he emphasized passionately.

During the handover ceremony, HRM Oba William Akinlade of Aye Kingdom thanked NAHCO for addressing the community’s pressing need. He further remarked that the projects would alleviate challenges, especially as the dry season approaches. High Chief Petu of Aye Kingdom, Chief Kayode Adebusoye, praised NAHCO’s generosity and promised the community’s prayers for the company’s success. The solar-powered boreholes reflect NAHCO’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure in rural areas.

Transitioning to the Adebola Creative Comprehensive College in Morogbo, Badagry, NAHCO inaugurated another borehole and a 3.5kVA generator to ensure uninterrupted access to clean water and electricity. Mr. Gupta noted that many school proprietors face difficulties meeting infrastructure needs, and NAHCO’s intervention addresses critical gaps. “At some point, everyone needs support, and we are glad to extend our helping hand to this school,” he said.

The school principal, Mrs. Mary Adegbehin, representing the CEO, Prince Adegbehin Adetarami, emphasized the project’s transformative impact on learning and digital education. “NAHCO has healed a significant wound for us by providing clean water and consistent electricity,” she said. Moreover, the Divisional Police Officer, Morogbo Division, CSP Adekunle Olaitan, praised NAHCO for instilling a legacy of giving back to society among the students.

Also, the Parents Teachers Association chairman, Dr. Okedusi Olorunsola, commended NAHCO’s CSR initiatives, urging other organizations to emulate their impactful efforts. “A maintenance culture for borehole projects ensures long-term benefits for communities and sets a standard for other donors,” he noted.
