Ibom Air has commenced domestic operations from the newly commissioned International Terminal at Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo. The transition took effect on June 14, 2026, marking a significant milestone for the airline and Akwa Ibom State’s aviation sector. The move is expected to improve efficiency, passenger comfort, and airport capacity.

The shift of domestic operations to the modern facility reflects Ibom Air’s commitment to delivering a seamless travel experience. In addition, the development strengthens the airport’s position as an emerging aviation hub in southern Nigeria. Passengers can now access enhanced facilities designed to support growing travel demand.

Domestic Operations Deliver 5 Bold Benefits

The relocation of domestic operations offers several advantages for travellers and airport stakeholders. First, the new terminal provides expanded passenger handling capacity, helping to reduce congestion during peak travel periods. Meanwhile, improved check-in and boarding systems are expected to speed up passenger processing.

Second, travellers will benefit from enhanced security infrastructure within the terminal. The facility also offers greater comfort through modern passenger amenities and improved waiting areas. Therefore, customers can expect a more efficient and enjoyable airport experience.

Third, the development supports the broader aviation ambitions of Akwa Ibom State. By housing domestic operations in a world-class terminal, the state can attract more business activity, tourism opportunities, and regional connectivity. The investment also reinforces confidence in the state’s growing aviation ecosystem.

Commenting on the development, the Chief Executive Officer of Ibom Air described the domestic operations transition as a landmark achievement for both the airline and the state.

“Today marks another defining moment in the evolution of Ibom Air and the aviation sector in Akwa Ibom State. The commencement of our domestic operations from the new International Terminal reflects our unwavering commitment to providing our passengers with a seamless, safe, and world-class travel experience.”

The CEO added that the new facility raises the standard of air travel while strengthening Akwa Ibom’s strategic importance within Nigeria’s aviation network.

“This facility not only elevates the standard of air travel for our customers but also positions Akwa Ibom as a strategic aviation hub for business, tourism, and regional connectivity.”

Furthermore, the airline noted that the relocation aligns with its long-term vision of continuously improving customer experience. The move also supports wider economic development goals by enhancing transport infrastructure and encouraging greater connectivity across the region.

Passengers travelling through Uyo are advised to arrive early for their flights while becoming familiar with the new terminal environment. However, Ibom Air stated that the transition process has been carefully planned to ensure minimal disruption to flight schedules and passenger movement.

The airline also expressed appreciation to Governor Pastor Umo Eno, the Akwa Ibom State Government, the Ministry of Aviation and Airport Development, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, service partners, and customers whose support contributed to the achievement.

As domestic operations begin at the new terminal, Ibom Air enters another phase of growth focused on service excellence, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Meanwhile, the development further highlights the increasing importance of modern airport infrastructure in supporting Nigeria’s expanding aviation industry.
