At the launch of Pathways, Pilgrimage & Destiny: The Biography of Alhaji Muneer Bankole, Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, has urged Nigerians to document their life stories, describing biographies as valuable resources that preserve history and provide lessons for future generations.
She made the call while stating that the book chronicled the life and career of aviation entrepreneur and Med-View Airlines founder, Alhaji Muneer Bankole.
Salako-Oyedele said while every life has a story, only a few are recorded for posterity. She noted that documenting such experiences creates reference materials that can inspire entrepreneurs, policymakers and younger generations.
“Every life has a story. But not every story is documented,” she said. “When people have stories that can be written and they write them, then we have scored two goals.”
The deputy governor praised Bankole’s contributions to Nigeria’s aviation industry, recalling his pioneering role in private Hajj operations and the establishment of Med-View Airlines. She described him as a businessman who identified opportunities where others saw challenges.

According to her, the biography captures valuable business lessons from an industry that is highly capital-intensive and constantly influenced by government policies and economic realities.
She also encouraged Nigerians to support indigenous businesses, saying local airlines deserve the same patience and loyalty that helped established international carriers grow over decades.
“We should continue to support our own businesses. They all started from somewhere, and we must help them grow through their teething challenges,” she added.
Biography Highlights Faith, Aviation and Lasting Legacy
Speaking on the four-year journey of producing the biography, author Professor Mobalanle Sotosan, said the project involved extensive research, interviews, verification of facts and examination of records to ensure historical accuracy.
She explained that the objective was not to produce a book of praise but an evidence-based account of Bankole’s life that future generations could learn from.
“My responsibility was not to write a eulogy, but to present a truthful account of a remarkable life,” she said. “My task was to ensure that future generations would encounter not myth, not exaggeration, but evidence.”
Sotosan said one of the strongest themes she discovered throughout the project was Bankole’s unwavering faith, noting that he viewed his achievements as manifestations of Allah’s guidance rather than personal ambition alone.
She added that his resilience, discipline and commitment to excellence were recurring values throughout his journey from entrepreneur to aviation executive and philanthropist.
“The title itself is symbolic,” she explained. “Pathways remind us that every meaningful life is a journey. Pilgrimage speaks of spiritual purpose and transformation, while destiny reminds us that our journeys ultimately unfold under the will of Almighty God.”
For his part, Alhaji Muneer Bankole, the celebrant, said he commissioned the biography to pass enduring lessons of patience, perseverance and faith to younger generations.
He revealed that the project, which took about four years to complete, was inspired by his desire to show that life’s challenges should never discourage anyone from pursuing their purpose.
“The message is simple. No matter the pressure or challenges, don’t give up,” Bankole said. “There is only one God who created us. He knows our journey before we are born, and He knows what our success story will be.”
He stressed that sincerity to God, family and oneself remains the foundation for a fulfilling life, urging people to rely on divine guidance instead of seeking unnecessary consultations elsewhere.
“In Arabic, we say sabr-patience,” he said. “Be sincere to yourself, be sincere to your family, be sincere to your God, and leave the rest for Him.”
Bankole added that he invited lifelong friends and associates to the launch as a reminder of gratitude and the importance of enduring relationships, saying the book ultimately reflects a life shaped by faith, resilience and unwavering trust in God.
The hall was filled to the brim with former classmates, friends Industry giants, who celebrated this torchbearer and industry stalwart.
