Recognition Highlights FAAN’s Aviation Transformation

The Change Maker Award specifically acknowledges Mrs Kuku’s leadership at FAAN and her commitment to strengthening aviation safety, improving infrastructure and enhancing operational efficiency.

Under her leadership, the Authority has intensified efforts to modernise airport facilities and improve passenger experience. These initiatives also target stronger safety and security systems, operational improvements and compliance with evolving international standards.

FAAN has also recorded milestones in quality management and environmental sustainability. These include its attainment of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System certifications.

The certifications reflect the Authority’s commitment to international best practices, improved service delivery and continuous institutional development.

The second recognition came from CIBN, which conferred its Honorary Fellowship on Mrs Kuku during its Fellowship Investiture Ceremony on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

The ceremony took place at Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos. The Fellowship represents the Institute’s highest membership distinction and acknowledges her career achievements and contributions to banking, financial services and aviation.

With professional experience spanning the Bank of Montreal, Ernst & Young, Bank PHB and the aviation sector, Mrs Kuku is now entitled to use the designation Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (FCIB).

FAAN Airport Operations Director Also Honoured

Meanwhile, FAAN’s Director of Airport Operations, Capt. Abdullahi Mahmood, has received a traditional honour in recognition of his leadership and service.

Capt. Mahmood was conferred with the title of Barden Gabas of Mubi Emirate in Adamawa State. The honour was bestowed under the authority of His Royal Highness, Alhaji Dr Abubakar Isa Ahmadu, CFR, Emir of Mubi.

The traditional title, historically associated with bravery and valour, recognises his contributions while entrusting him with greater responsibility towards promoting peace, unity and development within the Emirate.

FAAN said the honours reflect the depth of professional expertise, exemplary leadership and commitment to service within its management.

The Authority congratulated Mrs Kuku and Capt. Mahmood on their respective achievements. It also expressed confidence in their continued contributions to the aviation industry and national development.
