The Nigeria Immigration Service has condemned the violent attack, describing the incident as a tragic loss for the Service and its personnel. It has pledged to work with relevant authorities to identify and apprehend the assailants.

Meanwhile, the Service confirmed that Babangida had been buried in accordance with Islamic rites. It paid tribute to the officer, recognising his sacrifice and dedication to duty.

The NIS also extended its condolences to the deceased officer’s family, colleagues and loved ones. In addition, it wished Musa a speedy recovery and assured both families of its continued support during this difficult period.

The attack highlights the risks faced by security personnel conducting surveillance operations in vulnerable areas. However, the NIS has maintained that the incident will not weaken its resolve to fulfil its mandate.

As investigations and efforts to apprehend the suspects continue, the Service’s immediate priorities include supporting the injured officer, assisting the affected families and ensuring accountability for the killing.
