[dropcap]I[/dropcap]t was a family reunion on Wednesday August 2,2023 as retired officers and men of the Nigerian Immigration Service ( NIS) showed up at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Command to celebrate its Diamond Jubilee.
According to the Command Comptroller, CIS Adeola Adesokan the in-house celebration was aimed at celebrating some of the past heroes of the service, especially the zone who she said,”passed down excellence to us.”
The Command in particular celebrated retired Acting Comptroller General, Doris Braimah as well as retired Deputy Comptroller General C.A. Dibi who were overwhelmed with showers of praise.
Also celebrated, wildly were Rtd. DCI A Amolegbe and Rtd CIS Anthony Adoga who according to the crowd were fine officers and gentlemen.
DCG Dibi who spoke to the retirees admonished them not to be sedentary as well as to always ensure they saved as their little contributions would grow.
“If you have not started saving for your retirement, you have not started. You should join contribution schemes, ensure you save, you should hold on to God. You should also be mentally and physically active to starve off unwanted illnesses. Read a book, exercise,” she admonished them.
Retired Assistant Comptroller General, Mrs. Doris Braimah who gave a short lecture explained to new retirees and those almost due for retirement on the importance of nurturing relationships while in the service as that would work for then in the future.
According to her, being in a key area is not for instant gratification but for creating connections that may also work for you later in life.
She said, invest in relationships, its like a currency paid forward.
She was equally guest speaker in a workshop titled Enhancing Seamless Regular Migration where she advised officers if the command to dutifully advise travellers on the path of getting their travel documents right from the procurement of the passport documents.
She warned that without the right documents there is no seamless migration, ” you can only have seamless regular migration when you do the right thing. A lot of good people want to travel, you may help them by asking first, how they procured their documents.
The event highlight saw the Command Comptroller celebrated and gifted retirees Rtd DCI A. Amolegbe DCI Hussaini S B, ACI A Agborga, ACI S. Abubakar CSI J. Adoga having attained their retirement ages.
She also lauded and awarded officers and men of the command who have distinguished themselves despite overwhelming odds. Some of them were:ACI Muazu, ACI Dikko, CSI Ibrahim Sulieman, ACI Anyanwu, ACI B.Bashir, CSI Maureen Enibokun, Command PRO SI Y.Yarus.
Others are the 2 I/c of the command DCI S.Lawal, DCI M.S Magaji , ACI B.A Babajide.
