UNIONS in the aviation industry are gearing up for a showdown with the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika following last week’s appointments of transaction advisers for concession of the nation’s airports, the proposed national carrier and aerotropolis by the government art the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
The minister of state, aviation Hadi Sirika had at the end of the last Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja Chaired by the Vice President Osinbajo announced the appointments of the transaction advisers which did not go down well with the aviation unions.
The unions argued that Sirika has rendered useless with the appointments the committee he set up for the purpose as it was not considered before the announcement of the advisers.
“It means the committee he set up was a kangaroo since he wants to do everything on his own. Why did he involve the unions after making up his mind on what to do” A union leader told reporters.
They told the Minister to prepare for litigations especially with the projects under construction adding that the people have the right to protect their investments if they are not satisfied. If they give you grant and the conditions attached to the grants and the project not completed and you want to concession, they will fight back”
It will be recalled that the minister after the successful completion of the runway vowed to face concession of airports.
