London Operations Restart
Air Sierra Leone has announced the resumption of its London Operations, confirming the return of flights between London and Freetown as well as London and Banjul from the end of October 2026. The restart follows the successful completion of regulatory requirements and approval from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). Ticket sales have officially opened ahead of the airline’s return to service.
The airline disclosed the development in a statement issued by its Media, Communications and Public Relations Department. It said flight operations would resume in line with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Winter Season schedule. Therefore, the first flight is expected to depart at the end of October, marking the carrier’s official return to the UK market.
Passengers can now make reservations through the airline’s website, ticket offices and authorised travel agents. The reopening of bookings signals the airline’s readiness to reconnect travellers across the United Kingdom and West Africa. In addition, the airline expects the restored services to improve travel options for families, businesses and leisure passengers.
The airline explained that the earlier suspension of services resulted from unforeseen circumstances involving its previous aircraft provider. However, it stressed that passenger safety remained its highest priority throughout the disruption. The airline added that every operational and regulatory requirement had to be fully satisfied before services could resume.
According to the statement, “Flight operations will officially resume at the end of October 2026, in line with the IATA Winter Season schedule. The first flight is scheduled to depart at the end of October, marking the airline’s official return to London operations.”
Air Sierra Leone also highlighted that the London operations return represents more than the restoration of suspended routes. It described the development as a major milestone in its long-term growth plans. Meanwhile, the airline believes the renewed services will strengthen connectivity between West Africa, Europe and other international destinations.
The carrier expressed confidence in its future, saying it had emerged stronger after overcoming operational challenges. “Today, we are proud to say that Air Sierra Leone is back stronger, better, and more committed than ever to delivering a safe, reliable, and exceptional travel experience,” the statement said.
The airline noted that the resumed London Operations reinforce its ambition to become the preferred airline linking West Africa with Europe and beyond. It also expects the restored flights to support trade, tourism and investment while providing more convenient travel opportunities for passengers across the region.
Air Sierra Leone concluded by thanking passengers, partners and stakeholders for their patience during the temporary suspension. The airline reaffirmed its commitment to safe and reliable operations as it prepares to welcome customers back onboard. “We look forward to reconnecting families, businesses, and communities as we take to the skies once again,” the statement added.
