Air Peace Limited has accelerated its aircraft growth strategy with the arrival of another Embraer 190, taking its current Embraer fleet to 18 aircraft. The latest addition includes the airline’s growing portfolio of Embraer aircraft, including the E2 series, for which Air Peace is the launch customer in Africa.
The 96-seat Embraer 190 touched down at Murtala Muhammed International Airport Terminal 2, Lagos, at about 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. Captain Mrs. Ibironke Rotimi-Olajide flew the aircraft into Lagos, marking Air Peace’s eighth aircraft acquisition of the year and highlighting the pace of its ongoing capacity build-up.

Aircraft growth gains fresh momentum
The latest Embraer 190 has been named after Mrs. Eka Sunmonu, wife of Mr. Mutiu Sunmonu, former Managing Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company. The naming also marks the first time Air Peace has named an aircraft after someone outside the Onyema family, giving the latest arrival a notable place in the airline’s history.
The expanding Embraer portfolio forms part of Air Peace’s broader and diverse fleet, which also includes Boeing aircraft supporting domestic, regional and international operations. The airline has acquired five Boeing 737-800 aircraft in 2026, adding further capacity as it develops its network and increases the number of aircraft available for different markets.
Configured with 12 Business Class and 84 Economy Class seats, the latest Embraer 190 is designed around flexibility and passenger comfort. Its 1-2 Business Class arrangement provides additional personal space, while the 2-2 Economy Class configuration removes the middle seat, with passengers also benefiting from generous legroom, a spacious cabin and in-seat power sockets.
The aircraft’s arrival comes as Air Peace continues to position its fleet around different operational requirements. Smaller regional aircraft can provide flexibility on routes where larger jets may not be suitable, while Boeing aircraft can support higher-capacity domestic, regional and international services.
Commenting on the development, Air Peace Spokesperson, Mr. Osifo-Whiskey Efe, described the latest acquisition as another demonstration of the airline’s deliberate investment in fleet development and network expansion.
“The arrival of another Embraer 190 is an important milestone in our strategic fleet expansion programme. We are deliberately building a diverse and versatile fleet that gives us the operational flexibility required to strengthen our network, improve schedule resilience and provide greater connectivity across the markets we serve.
“With 18 Embraer aircraft now in our fleet, alongside our growing Boeing portfolio, we are building capacity for the long term. Every fleet decision is tied to our broader expansion strategy and our commitment to deploying the right aircraft across our domestic, regional and international network,” Efe stated.
The latest acquisition therefore strengthens Air Peace’s aircraft growth trajectory while adding another operational option to its expanding fleet. The airline’s strategy combines different aircraft types with network development, allowing it to match capacity with route requirements while supporting schedule resilience.
Beyond the immediate addition of another aircraft, the pace of acquisitions in 2026 points to a sustained investment programme. Eight aircraft have now been acquired this year, including the latest Embraer 190 and five Boeing 737-800s, reinforcing the airline’s push to build long-term operating capacity.
Air Peace’s growing fleet also comes as Nigerian aviation continues to place emphasis on aircraft availability, operational reliability and connectivity.
As Air Peace continues its aircraft growth, the airline remains focused on strengthening connectivity within Nigeria, deepening its presence across Africa and supporting international operations. The latest Embraer 190 adds capacity to that strategy while underscoring the airline’s continued investment in aircraft, network development and operational capability.
