This recognition highlights the company’s unwavering commitment to operational excellence, ensuring that British Airways’ ground operations in Lagos meet the highest global standards.
British Airways instituted the Platinum Award for Punctuality and Safety performance to recognize outstanding service providers across the Middle East, Africa, and the Asia Pacific regions. SAHCO’s remarkable achievement demonstrates its consistent dedication to meeting and exceeding industry benchmarks in aviation ground handling.
In 2024, SAHCO earned the prestigious Platinum Award every quarter after securing bronze, silver, and gold awards in previous years. This accomplishment underscores the company’s strong reputation in the aviation industry, particularly in West and Central Africa, where it remains a leader in ground handling services.
British Airways’ Regional General Manager for the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific, Helen O’Connor, emphasized the significance of this recognition. She commended SAHCO for meeting or surpassing the adjusted door closure (aDC) target of 96 percent monthly for four consecutive quarters, without any major safety incidents or repeat audit findings. She described the achievement as a testament to the company’s operational efficiency, reliability, and commitment to quality service delivery.
“Achieving this across an entire year is a remarkable testament to the excellence and reliability of your operation,” O’Connor stated. “We extend our warm congratulations for this well-deserved recognition.”
SAHCO’s Managing Director, Mrs. Adenike Aboderin, expressed delight over the award, acknowledging the airline’s staff for their dedication to upholding industry standards. She reaffirmed the company’s commitment to continuous training and capacity development, ensuring that personnel remain equipped with the latest best practices in aviation ground handling.
Additionally, SAHCO’s Abuja station secured the bronze award in the last quarter of 2024, further solidifying the company’s reputation for excellence in Nigeria’s aviation sector. This marks the first time British Airways’ Nigerian operations have achieved such high recognition.
With this fourth consecutive Platinum Award, SAHCO reinforces its leadership in aviation ground handling while maintaining a commitment to safety, efficiency, and punctuality.
