Beagle & Falcon law firm has petitioned President Bola Tinubu, asserting that Prof. Charles Anosike’s appointment as Director-General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (Nimet) violates the agency’s Act.

The firm alleges that Anosike lacks the necessary qualifications and experience required by the Nimet Act and calls for a thorough investigation into his meteorological science credentials.

In a four-page petition dated December 18, 2023, titled ‘Nimet DGSHIP: Charles Anosike Appointment Without Required Qualifications and Cognate Experience,’ Beagle & Falcon, represented by John Ujah, urges Tinubu to rescind Anosike’s appointment.

Citing the Nimet Act, 2022, Part III, 10 (3), the petitioner contends that Anosike does not meet the stipulated conditions for the Director-General position and emphasizes the need for his removal.

The petition underscores that Anosike’s qualifications hinder him from fulfilling the role of Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), as mandated by the Nimet Establishment Act, 2022.

Beagle & Falcon insists that Nimet requires an experienced meteorologist to avert collapse, emphasizing that individuals with industry experience better manage the agency.

The firm also accuses Anosike of being a mole for Sen. Hadi Sirika, the former Minister of Aviation, expressing concerns about potential manipulation of decisions in the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

The petitioner urges Tinubu to redeploy key ministry personnel through the Office of the Head of Civil Service to mitigate Hadi Sirika’s influence.
