The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA 25th anniversary celebrations) is set to mark its Silver Jubilee anniversary between the 21st and 23rd of July, 2024, in Abuja. The anniversary programme, tagged “NAMA @ 25,” will focus on the journey embarked upon by NAMA since its inception in 1999 and its ongoing commitment to promoting and enhancing air navigation safety in Nigeria.
NAMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Alhaji Abdulahi Musa, announced this over the weekend while calling for synergy with the media to propagate the event globally. “We intend to use the opportunity of this programme to showcase several milestones recorded by the agency across different administrations,” Musa said. These milestones include boosting and upgrading Air Traffic Management, navigational, and surveillance facilities to keep pace with global best practices as recommended by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs).
According to the NAMA director, “The presence and participation of aviation journalists, who have been reporting the agency’s giant strides over the years, would be critical to the event’s success. This would further enrich the discussions and analyses, given that most aviation correspondents would report with the aid of their wealth of experience.” NAMA 25th anniversary celebrations
Established by Act No. 48 of 1999 as a federal government agency, NAMA is responsible for providing air navigation services over Nigeria’s national boundaries, including its territorial waters. The forthcoming 25th-anniversary celebrations will feature paper presentations, lectures, and symposia on NAMA’s future over the next 25 years, as well as award presentations to aviation stakeholders who have positively impacted the agency since its inception.
