The Managing Director of NAMA, Engr Ahmed Umar Farouk, urged general managers to ensure NAMA’s processes meet global standards. Stressing increased productivity and innovation, Farouk emphasized that NAMA aims to reach its strategic goals and boost aviation safety.

At the 2024 General Managers’ Retreat in Keffi, Nassarawa State, Farouk stressed increased productivity and innovation as essential for NAMA’s mission. Represented by Director of Air Traffic Services, Mr. John Tayo, Farouk noted general managers act as the bridge between staff and management. He highlighted their crucial role in the agency’s policy-making through valuable advice and workforce feedback.

They provide invaluable advice and feedback from the workforce, shaping NAMA’s strategic direction through insights and expertise.

To support this role, Farouk assured managers that NAMA’s leadership is working to provide an enabling work environment. He emphasized current improvements and incentives designed to help managers perform duties smoothly and efficiently. Farouk stated, “These incentives will further motivate you toward achieving the agency’s goals.” Farouk expressed confidence that these changes would recognize the managers’ roles in line with industry best practices.

Additionally, the NAMA helmsman encouraged managers to stay resilient amid challenges. “I believe you can meet the challenges ahead,” he said. “Rising from this meeting, you will chart a new course for NAMA and the aviation industry.”

Dr. Joy Umeh, chairperson of the NAMA General Managers’ Forum, thanked NAMA management for its steps to improve conditions for the workforce, noting, “This move has greatly enhanced operations and created a conducive environment for effective coordination.” She urged managers to leverage collaboration and networking among departments to foster growth and harmony.

This year’s retreat, themed Effective Leadership & Resource Management, gathered top staff and included presentations on NAMA’s direction in a tough economy.
