Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo urged aviation workers to maintain industrial peace as the Government works to resolve the 50% internal revenue deduction from aviation agencies. Keyamo addressed the joint unions’ notice for a peace protest on August 21, stating that their concerns are acknowledged.
The Minister’s statement highlighted the significance of workers’ demands, focusing on the negative impact of the deductions on investments. The statement further emphasized the effects of the revenue cuts on maintaining critical infrastructure and the overall operations of aviation agencies.
Additionally, the Ministry recognizes the vital role the aviation workforce plays in ensuring the industry’s safety and efficiency. “We understand the significance of the issues raised and recognize the vital role that our aviation workforce plays in ensuring the safety and efficiency of the industry.”
Moreover, the Minister assured workers’ unions and stakeholders that the President is concerned about the aviation sector’s improvement and will carefully consider their demands. The government aims to find a lasting solution that balances its fiscal needs with the operational requirements of aviation agencies.
“We appeal to all workers to remain calm and maintain industrial peace while the Government is working assiduously towards amicably resolving the matter. The Ministry appreciates their patience and understanding and remains committed to ensuring a conducive work environment for all,” the statement concluded.
