Stakeholder engagement
The National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) has commenced a series of engagements with key aviation agencies in Abuja to strengthen stakeholder engagement, improve communication between its national leadership and branches, and build a more responsive framework for addressing issues affecting aviation professionals across the country.
The initiative, disclosed in a statement signed by NAAPE Public Relations Officer, Engr. Blessing N. Ahmadu, is designed to reinforce collaboration across the aviation sector. It also seeks to establish a structured reporting system that will enable the association’s leadership to respond more effectively to concerns raised by members working in different aviation organisations.
The programme began with a courtesy visit by the National Administrative Council (NAC) of NAAPE, led by its National President, Captain Bunmi Gindeh, to the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Captain Alex Badeh Jr., at the Bureau’s headquarters in Abuja.
The visit forms part of a wider programme involving NAAPE branches in major aviation agencies within the Federal Capital Territory. These include the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and Dornier Aviation Nigeria. Meanwhile, the association plans to expand the initiative to strengthen collaboration throughout the industry.
According to the association, branches will now submit regular weekly or monthly reports detailing workplace activities and emerging issues. Therefore, the National Administrative Council will gain better visibility into developments affecting members while providing quicker and more informed responses to industry concerns.
Speaking during the visit, Captain Gindeh said the initiative demonstrates NAAPE’s commitment to sustained stakeholder engagement and stronger collaboration across Nigeria’s aviation ecosystem.
“A strong professional association depends on consistent communication with its members. Our branches remain the foundation of NAAPE, and we want to ensure that their voices are heard regularly. This engagement is designed to strengthen collaboration, improve the flow of information and enable the National Administrative Council to respond more effectively to issues affecting our members and the profession.”
He added that NAAPE would continue to engage stakeholders throughout the aviation industry to promote safer operations, higher professional standards and a stronger aviation community. In addition, he noted that closer interaction between the association and its branches would improve decision-making and strengthen members’ confidence in the union’s leadership.
Receiving the delegation, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, Captain Alex Badeh Jr., welcomed the initiative and described continuous dialogue among aviation stakeholders as essential to the sector’s growth and stability.
“The aviation industry functions best when its professional bodies, regulators and technical agencies maintain open channels of communication. Engagements such as this create opportunities to exchange perspectives, build mutual understanding and support the collective objective of advancing safety and professionalism within the industry.”
Captain Badeh Jr. further reaffirmed the Bureau’s commitment to maintaining constructive relationships with professional bodies. He explained that the NSIB remains focused on carrying out independent safety investigations and issuing recommendations aimed at preventing future occurrences, thereby contributing to a safer aviation environment.
This latest stakeholder engagement marks the beginning of a broader programme by NAAPE to deepen branch participation, improve information sharing and strengthen partnerships across Nigeria’s aviation industry. As the initiative gathers momentum, the association expects stronger cooperation among aviation professionals, regulators and technical agencies, ultimately supporting safer operations and sustainable development across the sector.
