The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) confirmed the capture of Obi Levi Obieze. The suspect, also known as Levi Obu Onyeka, is wanted by the Nigeria Police, Enugu State Command, for alleged involvement in serious crimes, including abduction, kidnapping, and ritual killing.Immigration arrests ritual suspect, Onyeka is a plus to the NIS surveillance function

Comptroller General Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, disclosed the arrest through the Service Public Relations Officer, Assistant Comptroller of Immigration AS Akinlabi. He explained that the arrest took place at a routine border patrol operation.

The suspect hails from Umuojor village in Isiagu Community, Enugu State. According to reports, he is a native doctor and has long been under suspicion for participating in ritualistic practices tied to criminal activities.

One report indicated that on May 27, 2025, the suspect was involved in the abduction of a 13-year-old girl. The victim had been walking to the farm with her father when she was taken by three men.

Fortunately, she was rescued the following day by officers of the Nigeria Police Force. The girl was discovered inside a shrine reportedly linked to the suspect. These details were published in a national newspaper dated May 28, 2025.

Acting on credible intelligence, officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service’s Lagos State Border Patrol Command intercepted Obieze at Gbaji checkpoint. He had attempted to cross the border along Badagry-Seme Road using a motorcycle, presumably in an effort to evade justice.

Upon arrest, his identity was verified using a National Identity Management Commission enrollment slip found on him. During preliminary interrogation, Obieze confessed to his alleged role in the abduction and the suspected ritual killing.

The Immigration arrests ritual suspect operation underscores the growing collaboration between the NIS and the Nigeria Police Force. Presently, the NIS is working with the police to ensure the suspect is handed over for full investigation and possible prosecution.

Comptroller General Nandap reiterated the service’s resolve to protect Nigeria’s borders and aid law enforcement efforts. “This arrest demonstrates our vigilance and commitment to national security,” she said.

The successful interception has been hailed as a strong example of border surveillance efficiency. Authorities emphasized that such criminal elements will not escape the law through illegal border crossings.

Security agencies are advising communities to remain alert and report suspicious activity, especially in rural areas where ritual crimes have increased.

This case remains under investigation, with the police expected to press charges following the conclusion of their inquiry.
