Alawuba also praised the Minister’s innovative approach, particularly the transition to solar energy and the promotion of green aviation practices. “These milestones demonstrate a forward-thinking strategy that positions Nigeria as a global aviation hub,” Alawuba said. He noted that investments in sustainable infrastructure, such as the remodeled terminal, foster economic growth and seamless travel experiences.
The UBA GMD emphasized that private-sector involvement in national development through public-private partnerships is essential for addressing critical challenges effectively.
“This is not just about bricks and mortar; it’s about creating an environment that catalyzes growth and unlocks opportunities across every sector of the economy,” he added.
Alawuba assured of UBA’s commitment to supporting future phases of airport modernization. He described the E-Wing makeover as the first step in a larger journey. “The private sector must step in, and UBA clearly provides that support needed at this time. This is just the first phase, as the minister noted,” he stressed.
Minister Festus Keyamo commended the collaborative effort, describing it as a transformative project poised to redefine airport terminal standards. “This initiative highlights our resolve to enhance passenger satisfaction while embracing green solutions,” he stated. Moreover, he praised FAAN’s strategic move to modernize airport services, including the adoption of eco-friendly buses, which will significantly reduce reliance on fossil fuels and lower carbon emissions. This focus on sustainability reflects Nigeria’s broader commitment to addressing climate change through innovative solutions.
As part of this modernization drive, FAAN introduced four environmentally friendly CNG-powered, air-conditioned buses to enhance passenger mobility within airport premises. This step aligns with the agency’s goal of integrating sustainable transportation solutions into airport operations while improving overall passenger experience. It will be replicated in all the nation’s major airports.
Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, FAAN’s Managing Director further assured stakeholders of the agency’s determination to maintain excellence across its operations. “By 2025, FAAN will have implemented substantial investments in cooling systems, infrastructure modernization, and advanced equipment,” she noted. These improvements aim to bolster passenger comfort and operational efficiency, ensuring Nigerians are proud of their airport facilities. FAAN’s approach blends technological advancement with user-centric designs, fostering a more enjoyable travel environment for all.
Additionally, FAAN’s plans include upgrading existing terminals to meet international standards and introducing cutting-edge entertainment options. These efforts resonate with global best practices, positioning Nigerian airports as hubs of innovation and convenience. By integrating sustainable energy solutions and prioritizing passenger needs, FAAN reiterates its commitment to creating seamless travel experiences for both domestic and international travelers.
The event concluded with a shared resolve to deepen partnerships, ensuring Nigeria’s aviation industry remains competitive in the global arena. The remodeled terminal reflects a robust vision for infrastructure development that prioritizes innovation, sustainability, and economic advancement.
