Engr. Ahmed Umar Farouk, the newly appointed Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, immediately declares a power emergency. Emphasizing communication and airspace stability, he proactively takes charge and underscores commitment to operational efficiency.

Accepting the role, Farouk asserts NAMA’s steadfast commitment to excellence, eliminating doubts about the agency’s direction. Pledging a zero-tolerance policy for air accidents, he stresses adherence to global safety standards outlined by ICAO.

Farouk, recognizing the importance of collective responsibility, envisions a future marked by excellence and safety. Expressing gratitude to his predecessor, Engr. Tayib Odunowo, he commits to continuing commendable work and prioritizing staff welfare.

With a three-decade career, Farouk vows to uphold safety and industry standards, leveraging his engineering expertise in crucial systems deployment. Joining NAMA in 2002, he strategically introduced vital technologies, as Instrument Landing System and Doppler Very High-Frequency Omnidirectional Radio Range leaving an indelible mark on Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure.

Scheduled to retire on January 18, 2024, Farouk’s departure concludes an era dedicated to advancing the nation’s aviation capabilities.
