Douala, Libreville routes expand Air Peace’s African network
Air Peace has strengthened its presence in Central Africa with the launch of scheduled flights on the Lagos-Douala-Libreville route. The inaugural service took off on August 2, 2026, just one day after the airline introduced flights from Lagos to Conakry and Bamako. The rapid expansion highlights the carrier’s ambition to deepen regional connectivity across Africa and position Lagos as a leading aviation hub.
The strongest angle is the speed of the expansion. Within 48 hours, Air Peace added two new regional services covering four African cities. Therefore, the airline continues to reinforce its position as West and Central Africa’s largest carrier while opening fresh opportunities for business, tourism and cultural exchange between Nigeria, Cameroon and Gabon.
The inaugural flight received a colourful welcome at Douala International Airport. Air Peace executives, led by Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Nowel Ngala, and Director of Flight Operations, Captain Augustine Kamano, were received by Nigerian diplomatic officials, Cameroonian aviation authorities, airport management and leaders of the Nigerian community in the Littoral Region.
Representing Nigeria’s Ambassador to Cameroon, Foreign Affairs Officer Mrs. Suliat A. Paramole praised the new service and its impact on bilateral ties. She said the flight would strengthen movement between both countries and encourage closer economic and social relations. Her remarks reflected the importance of reliable air links in boosting regional integration.
The Nigerian community in Cameroon also welcomed the development. President General of the Nigerian Community in the Littoral Region, Hon. Chief Sir Lovinus Ezeh, described the service as a significant achievement. He said it would make travel easier for Nigerians living in Cameroon while encouraging stronger commercial and cultural relationships between both nations.
Officials from the Douala Airport Authority equally applauded the airline’s arrival. Representing the authority, Lt. Col. Adolphe Nyamke Bongkwaha said the new connection would reinforce Douala’s position as an important regional gateway. In addition, he noted that the route would improve passenger movement between Cameroon, Nigeria and neighbouring markets.
Speaking for the airline, Chief Commercial Officer Mr. Nowel Ngala described the launch as another milestone in Air Peace’s continental expansion. He said, “The Lagos-Douala-Libreville connection further strengthens Air Peace’s growing African network and provides passengers with greater access to destinations across West and Central Africa.”
Ngala added that the airline remains committed to building an interconnected African network. “Our goal is to enable passengers to travel seamlessly from destinations across our domestic network through Lagos to regional and international destinations, including London and the Caribbean,” he said. Meanwhile, the expanded network offers travellers more convenient connections through Nigeria.
From Cameroon, the inaugural service continued to Libreville, where officials also organised a ceremonial reception. Delegates from Gabon’s civil aviation authority, Libreville Airport and the Nigerian community welcomed the airline. They described the new service as a valuable addition that would improve travel choices and strengthen commercial links between Gabon and Nigeria.
Representing Gabon’s aviation regulator, Mr. Georges Renaud Maxime Moubamou Malekou said the route would improve air connectivity and encourage stronger interaction between both countries. Libreville Airport Managing Director, Mr. Igor Simard, also welcomed Air Peace, saying the airline would expand travel opportunities while improving Libreville’s connections with important African destinations.
The latest expansion underlines Air Peace’s strategy of opening underserved regional markets. However, it also demonstrates confidence in growing demand for intra-African travel. With Douala and Libreville now added to its network, alongside the newly launched Conakry and Bamako services, the airline continues to strengthen economic integration, tourism, investment and people-to-people connections across the continent.
