Comrade Chukwu Emmanuel throws hat in ATSSSAN National Presidential race

• aims to bring peace, professionalism into the union
• to foster capacity building to replace ageing workforce

ONE time National Vice President of the Air Transport Senior Staff Services Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), Comrade Chukwu  Emmanuel has promised among others to engage stakeholders in the aviation industry in partnership with others unions to think outside the box in a bid human and infrastructural capacities for the industry.

Comrade Emmanuel made this known while declaring his intention to run for the National Presidency of  ATSSSAN in the second quadrennial conference scheduled for 26^th and 28^th January, 2017 in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

While reeling out his plans to grow the union, Comrade Emmanuel harped on good governance, workers welfare better conditions of service for all as well as transparency in all issues and dealings stressing to create a better alliance with sister bodies in the industry.

Chukwu who sent some of his plans and agenda to Nigerianflightdeck.com said if he emerges victorious,  he will ensure that constitutions and national policies of ATSSSAN are obeyed as it is the bane of the aviation industry today.

He said,” My plans for ATSSSAN that will certainly herald the turnaround of the union’s fortune and her members include but are not limited to: the establishment of a well set up ATSSSAN venture to enable the union generate more funds to pursue her obligations without going cap in hand to the same management we ought to be engaging.”

“We will diversify the economic frontiers of the association to play a more pivotal role in the development of the aviation industry.”

” We will enthrone pragmatic and proactive unionism that will compliment managements and  government other than being appendages of management  and be used to victimize perceived enemies and foes.”

He also talked about technical training to  replace an already aged workforce through capacity building stating that ,” we will pursue professional and technical training of staff to grow capacity of those who will replace the ageing workforce of the defunct Nigeria Airways that dots all around the industry and providing commendable services without whom the industry will  be challenged today.”

” Capacity building will be paramount as new crops of leaders will be raised to sustain vibrant unionism through scheduled long-term training in labour institutions abroad other than the ad hoc, frivolous trips to attend national days of some countries to the detriment of knowledge and empowerment.”

He also stated that ATSSSAN under his leadership will engage management of all employees of its members on how to grow their business responsibly and improve on welfare of its members as will be negotiated in the conditions of services.

“ The covenant of an injury to one is an injury to all will be sacrosanct and serve as our watchword.”

Comrade Chukwu also said he aims to restore branch strength and values to enable branch executives  to regain their confidence and commitment to engaging their management on staff welfare matters with enabling back up from the national secretariat.
