The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and Aviators Africa are strengthening their partnership to enhance capacity building and boost regulatory efficiency across Nigeria’s aviation sector.
During a courtesy visit to the Director General of NCAA, Captain Chris Najomo, in Abuja, Chief Executive Officer of Aviators Africa, Toni Ukachukwu, emphasized the organization’s unwavering commitment to developing aviation professionals through strategic training initiatives.
Ukachukwu said the collaboration between Aviators Africa and the NCAA underscores their shared vision of advancing aviation safety, security, and regulatory excellence within Nigeria and across the African continent.
According to him, NCAA staff across several directorates are already benefiting from tailored capacity building programmes designed to improve technical and non-technical competencies in aviation oversight, management, and compliance.
He commended the leadership of Captain Najomo, noting that under his direction, the NCAA has demonstrated strong commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and international best practices in aviation regulation.
Ukachukwu added that discussions during the meeting focused on expanding existing training frameworks to include specialized courses and mentorship schemes aimed at enhancing operational performance and institutional knowledge.
Captain Najomo, while responding, appreciated Aviators Africa’s continuous support toward realizing the NCAA’s capacity building goals.
He noted that collaborations of this nature are crucial to the Authority’s mission of ensuring effective oversight and compliance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs).
“The NCAA remains committed to improving the skills and professionalism of its workforce,” Najomo said. “We will continue to welcome partnerships that align with our vision of regulatory excellence and global compliance.”
The partnership also aims to institutionalize structured programmes that address evolving needs within the aviation industry. Both parties explored key focus areas designed to create sustainable impact:
Customized Training Courses: Tailored sessions for NCAA personnel in aviation safety oversight, airworthiness, navigation services, and aviation security.
Mentorship and Non-Technical Support: Aviators Africa will offer hands-on mentoring and professional guidance to NCAA teams.
Workshops and Knowledge Sharing: Joint organization of seminars on emerging global trends and best practices in aviation regulation and management.
Ukachukwu further reiterated that Aviators Africa’s long-term goal is to nurture a culture of excellence across Africa’s aviation ecosystem.
“Our partnership with NCAA reflects a shared dedication to building a safer, more efficient aviation environment,” he said. “Through capacity building and collaborative learning, we can elevate regulatory standards to world-class levels.”
He explained that the organization remains focused on human capital development as a catalyst for growth and sustainability in Africa’s aviation sector.
Captain Najomo echoed similar sentiments, stressing that partnerships like this directly contribute to Nigeria’s compliance with international benchmarks while improving service delivery across all facets of the aviation industry.
The courtesy visit concluded with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to sustaining the strategic alliance.
They agreed that continuous collaboration between public and private stakeholders is vital to ensuring that Nigeria maintains its upward trajectory in aviation regulation and operational safety.
