For travel agents across the globe, booking United Nigeria Airlines flights just became instant, thanks to its live integration on Amadeus Global Distribution System. Hundreds of thousands of travel agencies and partners worldwide will now benefit from UNA’s extended offerings due to its significant shift in its international visibility.

The move places the carrier within the global Amadeus network, allowing real-time bookings, inventory access, and wider commercial reach. Therefore, the airline strengthens its position in Africa’s competitive aviation space through Amadeus connectivity.

The integration ensures travel agents, corporate buyers, and travel management firms can now book United Nigeria Airlines flights directly via the distribution network. Meanwhile, this expands the airline’s reach beyond domestic markets into global distribution channels. The development positions the reservation platform as a central driver of UNA’s commercial transformation strategy.

Amadeus GDS rollout drives UNA market expansion strategy

Speaking on the development, United Nigeria Airlines Chief Commercial Officer, Adedayo Olawuyi, described the Amadeus integration as a milestone in the airline’s growth journey. He emphasised that the partnership improves access and strengthens distribution across multiple markets.

“Our integration with Amadeus represents a major leap forward in our commitment to providing convenient and efficient access to our services. It opens up United Nigeria Airlines to a wider global audience and strengthens our ability to serve both domestic and international travellers,” he said.

He further noted that the distribution network enables the airline to scale distribution, deepen market penetration, and improve customer convenience. In addition, the system provides real-time inventory access and enhanced fare management capabilities, which are critical for modern airline operations.

The travel distribution network rollout coincides with United Nigeria Airlines’ broader expansion strategy. The airline has recently increased its fleet with additional Boeing 737-800NG aircraft. A new aircraft is expected to be unveiled on June 18, further supporting operational efficiency and capacity growth.

Therefore, the airline is positioning itself for stronger demand management across domestic and regional routes. UNA also confirmed ongoing exploration of regional expansion opportunities. These initiatives align with its long-term ambition to strengthen connectivity using Amadeus as a key distribution backbone.

Meanwhile, the airline continues to build strategic partnerships aimed at improving network strength and passenger reach. The integration with the distribution network supports these ambitions by enabling seamless global accessibility.

Amadeus strengthens Africa’s aviation connectivity strategy

Reacting to the partnership, Amadeus Regional General Manager, Yaan Gilbert, highlighted the strategic importance of the deal for Africa’s aviation sector. He noted that Amadeus is investing heavily in modernising travel infrastructure across the region.

“This major partnership perfectly illustrates Amadeus’ core commitment: focusing and investing deeply in Africa to support the region’s booming aviation market and connect local carriers to the global stage,” he said.

He added that United Nigeria Airlines, now one of Nigeria’s fast-growing carriers, is experiencing strong passenger demand of over 120,000 travellers monthly. Consequently, Amadeus expands the airline’s visibility across hundreds of thousands of global travel agencies and booking platforms.

This development significantly improves market access and positions UNA within a broader international distribution ecosystem powered by Amadeus.

Amadeus GDS enables real-time global booking access

With the GDS now live, customers booking through travel agencies worldwide can access real-time fares and flight availability. This improves transparency and reduces booking delays across multiple markets.

In addition, the airline benefits from improved pricing flexibility and enhanced operational efficiency. The integration ensures that Amadeus becomes a core part of United Nigeria Airlines’ digital infrastructure.

As the airline expands its fleet and explores new routes, the GDS will remain central to its global distribution strategy. Therefore, the partnership strengthens both visibility and competitiveness in Nigeria’s aviation sector.

The global travel tech system integration ultimately positions United Nigeria Airlines for sustained growth, improved customer experience, and deeper international reach. Meanwhile, the airline continues to scale operations while leveraging Amadeus to compete more effectively in a globalised aviation market.
