ValueJet has officially announced that it will begin Lagos-Banjul flights May 15, 2025. The direct air service from Lagos to Banjul is designed to strengthen connections between Nigeria and The Gambia. This new route will support tourism, business, and cultural relations across the West African sub-region.
According to the airline, this route will begin operations on Thursday, May 15, 2025. The service will be offered twice weekly, with flights leaving Lagos at 9:00pm every Thursday and Sunday. Passengers will arrive in Banjul by 11:30pm local time. The return journey will operate on Mondays and Fridays, departing Banjul at 12:30am and landing in Lagos at 5:00am.
All Lagos-Banjul flights May 15 and beyond will operate from the new terminal of Murtala Muhammed International Airport. Tickets are currently available on the airline’s website, flyvaluejet.com, for those eager to explore this fresh travel option.
Managing Director and Accountable Manager of ValueJet, Captain Omololu Majekodunmi, emphasized the airline’s broader goals. He said the Banjul service highlights ValueJet’s commitment to enhancing intra-African connectivity, particularly in West Africa. According to him, the flight route not only facilitates easier travel but also promotes regional integration and trade growth.
“This launch is another milestone in our mission to make West African air travel more accessible,” said Captain Omololu Majekodunmi. “We’re proud to help bridge the gap between countries, enabling deeper business and cultural ties across the continent.”
The expansion is part of ValueJet’s broader regional growth strategy. The airline has expressed interest in adding more routes within the West Coast in the coming months. This planned growth aligns with the airline’s vision of becoming a leading travel provider in the region.
In addition to economic impact, the direct flights are expected to support tourism in The Gambia, a country known for its vibrant culture and natural attractions. Nigeria’s travelers now have a new, reliable gateway to this scenic destination.
By launching this route, ValueJet is playing a role in supporting the goals of the African Union’s single African air transport market. It offers safe, convenient, and direct access between two important West African cities, laying the groundwork for further regional collaborations.
