United Bank for Africa (UBA), through its CSR arm, the UBA Foundation, kicked off the festive season with its annual Garden Light-Up ceremony. Held on Monday at UBA’s head office in Lagos, the event attracted staff, customers, and well-wishers to celebrate a season of joy, gratitude, and community. The Garden Light-Up ceremony in Lagos showcased UBA’s dedication to spreading cheer and fostering unity during this special time of the year.

The Garden Light-Up, a cherished annual tradition, embodies UBA and its Foundation’s mission to inspire hope and strengthen bonds within the community. Against a backdrop of sparkling lights, festive decorations, and vibrant music, the event delivered an unforgettable experience. Fireworks lit up the sky, symbolizing the season’s promise of renewal and goodwill. The gathering also underscored the importance of giving back, setting the tone for a season of generosity and kindness.

During his address, UBA Group Managing Director/CEO Oliver Alawuba highlighted the bank’s unwavering commitment to its stakeholders. “This annual lighting ceremony is more than an event; it is a symbol of hope for the future and the wonderful opportunities ahead,” he remarked. He acknowledged the dedication of staff, the support of customers, and the leadership of UBA’s board, led by Chairman Tony Elumelu.

“As we approach Christmas, a time of love, we remember the spirit of giving and community,” Alawuba continued. “I am particularly grateful to our executive management team and staff for their contributions during a challenging year. Together, we have achieved remarkable milestones and built a legacy that will endure. Let us continue to spread kindness and light in our communities.”

The celebration featured performances by the UBA Customer Fulfilment Centre choir, delivering soul-stirring Christmas carols. Guests enjoyed a guided tour of the UBA Foundation gardens on the Lagos Marina, which dazzled with its intricate light displays. The evening culminated in a spectacular fireworks display, leaving attendees inspired and filled with the festive spirit.

In line with its mission, UBA Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable development across Africa. This festive season, the Foundation will feed tens of thousands across the continent, underscoring its dedication to empowering communities. Through initiatives in education, the environment, economic empowerment, and special projects, the Foundation continues to make a meaningful impact.
