Turkish Airlines disclosed the seven union members dismissed were implicated in a $600000 ticket racketeering scam.

Seeking legal redress against the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), the airline asserts NUATE’s disruption of its operations and flight cancellations on May 21, 2024, due to picketing.

In 2023, the airline uncovered a pattern of ticket racketeering, resulting in significant economic losses.

“In late 2023, the airline uncovered a pattern of ticket racketeering involving seven employees, resulting in significant economic losses.

The violations included various ticketing reservation infractions, amounting to over $600,000 in losses for the airline.”

Engaging the union in discussions, the airline revealed the union’s involvement in the disciplinary committee’s decisions.

Despite offering resignations to the employees for the $600000 ticket racketeering scam, four declined. This prompted the union’s refusal to sign off on disciplinary actions.

NUATE’s threats to disrupt operations led to legal proceedings initiated by the airline, as NUATE proceeded with picketing despite pending court motions.

The union wants the airline to overlook illegal behaviors, contradicting transparency and management principles, causing significant financial losses.

The airline vehemently opposes such actions, vowing to uphold transparency and pursue legal recourse against wrongful behaviors.

“We would like to respectfully announce to the public that the airline has no tolerance for this and all similar illegal and wrongful actions, and will act accordingly and exercise all its legal rights regarding the process.”
