In assuming office, Qatar Airways’ new Group CEO, Eng. Badr Al Meer, unveils a vision emphasizing sustainable growth and technological strides. Boasting a 20-year career spanning aviation, construction, and real estate development, Al Meer’s background uniquely positions him for this role. Notably, he served as the Chief Operating Officer of Hamad International Airport since 2014.

Emphasizing a decade-long commitment to Qatar Airways Group, Al Meer looks ahead to steering the national carrier toward a new era marked by trust and empowerment.

“In the dynamic travel industry, I aim to refocus on leveraging emerging technology, implementing sustainable aviation solutions, and enhancing customer experiences,” he declares.

While acknowledging his predecessor Mr. Akbar Al Baker’s accomplishments in transforming Qatar Airways into a global powerhouse with 241 aircraft, 43,000 employees, and over 160 worldwide destinations, Al Meer describes it as an indelible mark on the organization.

Al Meer’s leadership extends across crucial divisions such as MATAR, Qatar Aviation Services, Qatar Duty-Free, Qatar Aviation Catering Company, Qatar Distribution Centre, Dhiafatina Hotels, and Qatar Airways Global Real Estate.

His engineering degrees from the American University of Beirut and the University of Colorado form the bedrock of his robust educational foundation.
