1,085 Nigerians Return Home

In a fourth evacuation, West Africa’s largest airline, Air Peace successfully completed the fourth phase of its humanitarian evacuation operation from South Africa, safely bringing home another 284 Nigerian nationals in collaboration with the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The latest airlift follows three earlier humanitarian flights that returned 262 Nigerians on June 11, 271 on June 30 and 268 on July 3. With the successful completion of the fourth operation on July 9, the airline has now safely evacuated 1,085 Nigerians, demonstrating sustained operational capacity during humanitarian emergencies.

The fourth evacuation flight, operated with Air Peace’s Boeing 777-200 wide-body aircraft, arrived safely after transporting Nigerians affected by the recent wave of xenophobic attacks in South Africa. Therefore, the mission marked the completion of another critical phase of the emergency response coordinated between the airline and the Federal Government.

Rather than treating the operation as a routine evacuation, Air Peace described it as part of its wider commitment to national service. The airline said its readiness to deploy aircraft whenever Nigerians face danger abroad reflects a long-standing philosophy built on compassion, patriotism and responsibility.

“With the successful completion of today’s mission, Air Peace has now safely repatriated 1,085 Nigerians across four humanitarian evacuation flights.”

The achievement further strengthens the airline’s reputation as a dependable partner during national emergencies. Meanwhile, the successful deployment of its long-haul Boeing 777 fleet highlights the carrier’s capability to respond quickly to large-scale humanitarian operations.

For many Nigerians caught in the xenophobic violence, the evacuation represented far more than transportation. It provided a safe route home at a time of uncertainty, restoring hope to families and demonstrating that national institutions can respond effectively during international crises.

Air Peace said the evacuation exercise reflects its enduring humanitarian philosophy, which places people above profit whenever emergencies arise. In addition, the airline stressed that Nigerians, regardless of where they reside, should always have confidence that they can return home safely during difficult times.

“More than an airlift, the ongoing evacuation exercise reflects Air Peace’s unwavering humanitarian philosophy; one rooted in compassion, patriotism and an abiding commitment to ensuring that Nigerians, regardless of where they may be, can always count on a safe journey home in times of crisis.”

The latest operation also adds to Air Peace’s growing record of humanitarian interventions across Africa and beyond. Since commencing operations, the airline has undertaken more than 16 evacuation and relief missions, supporting emergency repatriations, humanitarian crises and other national interventions requiring rapid air transport.

These missions have ranged from conflict-related evacuations to emergency government operations, reinforcing the airline’s strategic importance beyond commercial aviation. Consequently, Air Peace has increasingly become a vital national asset whenever urgent airlift capabilities are required.

The airline said its commitment extends beyond connecting cities and countries. Instead, its broader mission is to connect people with hope, reunite families and provide reassurance during periods of uncertainty. That philosophy continues to define its humanitarian interventions across the continent.

As Nigeria’s largest airline, Air Peace maintains that it stands ready to answer the nation’s call whenever citizens require assistance abroad. The successful repatriation of 1,085 Nigerians from South Africa demonstrates not only operational strength but also a corporate commitment to national service, humanitarian responsibility and the protection of Nigerian lives wherever they may be.
