The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has commenced the expansion of its facilities to boost future passenger traffic. Managing Director Olubunmi Kuku made this known during a recent media interaction, emphasizing the Authority’s strategic measures to enhance airport operations and accommodate growing air traffic demands. Moreover, the facilities’ expansion to boost future passenger traffic is part of FAAN’s vision to position Nigerian airports as hubs.
“Passenger traffic remains strong,” Kuku stated. “While there are global economic realities, we have expanded our facilities and are planning for the future. This includes the strategic use of Terminal 2 and Terminal D to manage passenger flow and reduce congestion effectively.”
As part of these measures, FAAN optimizes operations by reviewing flight schedules and adjusting arrival slots to ensure efficiency. “We maximize terminal capacity by carefully managing arrival times and providing a seamless travel experience for passengers,” she explained.
To address concerns about less active sections of the airport, Kuku clarified the Authority’s long-term strategies. She reassured, “This part of the facility may appear empty at times, but we are preparing for anticipated growth.” Transitioning into more effective utilization, FAAN has incorporated Terminal D into its operations to decongest high-traffic areas and streamline passenger movement.
