The coordinator of the 14th Nigeria Aviation Award Performance Review Committee, Mr. Fortune Idu, says aviation stakeholders have overwhelmingly passed a vote of confidence on the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, as the Aviation Personality of the Year 2024.

According to Mr. Idu, this was demonstrated at the just-concluded Nigeria Aviation Award votes, opened to public survey for the 14th NIGAV Awards.

He said it was a true vote of public confidence in Keyamo’s leadership, with 72% of 4,128 industry votes cast for the Aviation Personality of the Year category.

Nigeria Aviation Award is a leading industry specialist performance recognition award. It covers all aspects of aviation service delivery and is endorsed by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority. An independent private organization, known for industry development promotion, coordinates the awards.

NIGAV Awards made history with over 4,000 voters participating, a significant increase from the usual 350 responders in past surveys. “This overwhelming response shows increased industry and public awareness and growing interest in this administration’s aviation policies,” Idu stated.

“The results are being compiled, and more winners will emerge in various categories. Contributors to aviation development will also be honored.”

The event is expected to be grand, with the attendance of Lagos State Governor. The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, will also crown the King and Queen of the Air.

“The NIGAV Awards is different from other aviation sector awards as it is purely based on voting, ensuring transparency and credibility,” Idu emphasized.

The NIGAV 2024 Awards will take place on April 11, 2025, at the NIGAV Expo Event Centre, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, starting at 2 p.m.

This year’s NIGAV Awards theme, ‘Foundation for Accelerated Aviation Growth’ (FAAG), will highlight the administration’s achievements in laying a foundation for sustainable aviation growth.
