THE University of Benin, has awarded former Assistant Comptroller General Nigeria Immigration Service Zone A, Mrs. Doris Braimah an Excellence and Productivity award inducted her into the exclusive class of a Uniben Hero who has contributed to the growth and development of her alma mater.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Lilian Salami handed her the award at the University of Benin, Golden Jubilee Celebration which was postponed in 2020 due to the emergence of the covid-19 pandemic. The University celebrated its 51st anniversary with its alumni this year.
According to the Vice Chancellor, the university has produced 358,000 graduates since its inception and this anniversary has attracted people from home and the diaspora to come together and bask in the university’s glory over the years.
She said, ” The excellence and productivity award is an initiative for this present administration to reward members of staff who have distinguished themselves in excellent service in the university. Recipients of this awards are engine drivers of this university system for it existence and sustainability.

Receiving her award, former ACG Immigration Zone A, Mrs Braimah was thankful of the gesture saying that a lot of the alumni of the university have made an indelible mark in the sands of time.
She said,”well, its been a journey because we were all students of this university, some years ago and it’s quite pleasing the Vice Chancellor, Professor Salami decided to honour us especially. She said many of the former students have made their marks in their various field and I am an immigration officer retired a few months ago and rose to the rank of ACG of immigration.
Adviser to Edo State Governor on Political Affairs, Philomena Ihenyen who also spoke on the conferment of the award expressed joy at the award to the retired ACG stressing:
“I am very proud of her because she excelled in her own profession almost to the peak of her profession as ACG Immigration, which women are are getting there. I’m glad that she is recognized today.
