The family of Kingsley Ezenwa, spokesperson for Dana Air, recently announced the passing and burial of their patriarch, High Chief Edward Nweze Ezenwa. After a brief illness, High Chief Ezenwa passed away at the age of 85 in Lagos. Kingsley expressed that while they miss him deeply, the family finds comfort in the honorable send-off they gave him on October 11, 2024.
Reflecting on his father’s life, Kingsley shared, “Papa lived a fulfilling life, born in Anambra State, where he earned academic and sports laurels and became affectionately known as ‘Horse’ and ‘Okalicha,’ meaning ‘the best among equals.’ In the 1970s, he moved to Lagos and joined International Paint West Africa (IPWA), where he rose to become Human Resources Director, retiring nearly 30 years ago.” High Chief Ezenwa’s impressive career made a lasting impact on those he worked with and mentored.
As a devout Catholic, High Chief Edward Nweze Ezenwa valued his traditions and contributed to various social development initiatives in both Lagos and Anambra. His love for social gatherings and humor made him an admired figure among friends and family. Kingsley noted, “He was always fun to be with, a man of laughter and joy.”
Ezenwa is survived by his wife, five sons, grandchildren, and siblings. Kingsley remarked, “Papa’s legacy as a motivator, teacher, and devoted family man will be deeply missed by all who knew him.” He also expressed gratitude to friends, well-wishers, and industry colleagues, including the League of Airports and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC), for their support during this difficult time.
The Ezenwa family continues to find solace in the overwhelming condolences and support received from loved ones, friends, and aviation colleagues.
