Capt. Musa Nuhu, former Nigeria’s representative at the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Public Policy and Administration by the European American University (Commonwealth of Dominican Republic, Canterbury, England). This prestigious accolade recognizes his contributions in various designations of leadership, including his role as the Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in Nigeria, where he championed strategic growth and transformation.

The recognition ceremony was held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), during the 2025 Good Governance Summit. Themed “Promoting Business Investment and Food Security as a Pathway to Good Governance,” the summit convened dignitaries and stakeholders to explore strategies addressing global challenges.

Presenting the honor on behalf of the Board of Regents and Education of the European American University’s African Regional Operations, Prof. Peter Ekong praised Capt. Nuhu and four other recipients for their remarkable achievements. He acknowledged that the honorary doctorate degrees celebrated their outstanding leadership in diverse areas within international business, human resource management, and public governance.

Prof. John Odeh, representing the European American University, commended the honorees’ commitment to excellence and their positive influence in their fields. He emphasized Capt. Nuhu’s exceptional leadership in aviation and his ability to inspire change. “Capt. Musa Shuaibu Nuhu’s achievements reflect the impact of his leadership in various designations of leadership, including his pivotal role in advancing global aviation standards and policies,” Odeh stated.

In his acceptance speech, Capt. Nuhu expressed gratitude to the European American University for recognizing his contributions to aviation and public administration. He attributed his success to the values upheld in various designations of leadership roles he has served throughout his career. “This recognition motivates me to deepen my commitment to serving humanity and advancing critical sectors that drive progress and sustainability,” he remarked.

Addressing the summit’s theme, Capt. Nuhu highlighted the role of accountability, transparency, and inclusivity in good governance. He emphasized how strategic visionary leadership could foster investment opportunities and enhance food security. “Leadership must remain visionary and inclusive to overcome global challenges and create resilient systems,” he added.

Other distinguished honorees at the ceremony included Dr. Charles Ezeagwu (Business Administration and Corporate Governance), Dr. Ifeanyi Nwosu (Business Administration), Dr. Kingsley Ebere-Umeojiaka (Business Administration), and Dr. Ejike Okerekeamara (Business Administration). These individuals were recognized for their exceptional accomplishments in various designations of leadership, demonstrating unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation.
