Aviation safety cooperation: Banjul Accord Group Accident Investigation Agency (BAGAIA) and the Southern African Development Community Aviation Safety Organisation (SASO) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. This MOC, signed by BAGAIA Commissioner Engr. Charles Irikefe Erhueh and SASO Executive Director Mr. Kabo Phutietsile, took place at the AFI Aviation Week in Libreville, Gabon from July 15th to 19th, 2024.

The MOC aimed at enhancing aviation safety cooperation will improve the performance of SASO and BAGAIA. This enhancement aligns with the provisions of the Convention on International Civil Aviation and its Protocols. Additionally, this collaboration will establish a framework to facilitate the exchange of information and expertise between the parties.

Furthermore, the agreement encourages formalizing, consolidating, promoting, and sharing experiences in aviation safety with other Regional Safety Oversight Organisations (RSOO) and Regional Accident Investigation Organisations (RAIOs). Both parties will participate in joint activities aimed at implementing critical elements of a state safety oversight system.

Similarly, they will build closer cooperation through harmonizing regulations, manuals, procedures, and programs. The main objective is to assist Member States in complying with ICAO requirements.
