Partnering with Airbus through this FHS agreement will help us optimize operations, reduce maintenance delays, and ensure top-tier passenger service.
Airbus has signed a seven-year Flight Hour Services (FHS) contract with Ethiopian Airlines for its 24 Airbus A350 aircraft. The agreement covers maintenance for both A350-900 and A350-1000 models. The contract enhances fleet reliability and efficiency, ensuring uninterrupted operations.
This deal ensures Ethiopian Airlines gets dedicated on-site stock in Addis Ababa. It also provides access to Airbus material pools and engineering support for critical rotable parts. The airline benefits from guaranteed component availability and rapid access to essential parts. This approach reduces aircraft downtime and enhances operational reliability.
Retta Melaku, Ethiopian Airlines’ Chief Operating Officer, said: “As the first African operator of the A350 Family, we are committed to maintaining high performance and reliability. Partnering with Airbus through this FHS agreement will help us optimize operations, reduce maintenance delays, and ensure top-tier passenger service.”
Laurent Negre, Vice President of Customer Services for Airbus Africa and Middle East, added: “This partnership reinforces Airbus’ commitment to providing tailored maintenance solutions. We are proud to support Ethiopian Airlines with FHS to enhance fleet reliability and streamline operations.”
Ethiopian Airlines has a long-standing partnership with Airbus. It was the first African carrier to operate the A350-900 in June 2016 and introduced the A350-1000 in November 2024.
Airbus FHS offers a comprehensive maintenance solution that ensures component reliability while controlling maintenance costs. The service includes pooled inventory, on-site stock, and customized repair and engineering support. More than 1,400 aircraft worldwide operate under Airbus FHS agreements.
