Ibom Air has announced that all flight operations will move to the new ultramodern terminal at Victor Attah International Airport from 14 June 2026. The development marks a significant step in the airline’s efforts to improve passenger experience and operational efficiency. Passengers travelling with Ibom Air are therefore advised to use the new terminal for all departures and arrivals from the effective date.
The airline disclosed the transition in a statement signed by its Group Manager, Marketing and Communication, Aniekan Essienette. According to the statement, the ultramodern facility is equipped with modern infrastructure designed to deliver a seamless journey from check-in through boarding and arrival.
Essienette stated that the new terminal offers “enhanced passenger comfort, improved operational efficiency, and modern facilities designed to provide a seamless travel experience from check-in to boarding and arrival.” The airline noted that the relocation is part of a broader commitment to delivering world-class service standards.
Ultramodern Terminal Set to Transform Passenger Experience
The ultramodern terminal is expected to significantly improve travel convenience for passengers using Victor Attah International Airport. In addition, the facility is designed to support growing passenger traffic while ensuring smoother operational processes for airlines and airport authorities.
Passengers are encouraged to monitor Ibom Air’s official communication channels for updates and travel advisories. Meanwhile, the airline stressed the importance of arriving at the correct terminal to avoid disruptions to travel plans after the transition takes effect.
The commencement of operations from the ultramodern terminal follows the official inauguration of the Ibom International Terminal by Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno on 3 May 2026. During the launch, the governor described the project as the result of decades of planning, persistence and strategic investment aimed at strengthening the state’s aviation sector.
The airport began operations on the same day with a symbolic non-scheduled inaugural flight to Accra, Ghana. The initiative forms part of the state’s ambition to position itself as a major aviation and economic hub in West Africa.
Speaking on the operational significance of the ultramodern facility at the launch, Chief Executive Officer of Ibom Air, George Uriesi, said the terminal introduces a unique concept not previously available in Nigeria.
“We have delivered something that hasn’t existed in our country before, a terminal specially designed for transfer of domestic to international passengers, international to domestic passengers, and most importantly international to international passengers,” Uriesi said.
He explained that the ultramodern facility would enable seamless transit connections without requiring passengers to formally enter Nigeria. According to him, the design mirrors the operational model used by major international transit airports around the world.
“A passenger will fly from Libreville into Uyo to connect to Johannesburg without entering Nigeria technically. They will just experience the ambience of our terminal and transfer,” he explained.
Uriesi further compared the system to leading European hubs where passengers connect between flights without passing through full immigration procedures.
“This is what happens when you fly to Europe. You get to Amsterdam, you don’t go into the country, you stay in the airport and connect,” he said.
The Ibom Air CEO expressed confidence that the ultramodern terminal would redefine air travel in Nigeria. He noted that the facility has the potential to influence passenger travel choices while enhancing the country’s reputation for aviation innovation.
With operations set to commence on 14 June, the ultramodern terminal represents another milestone for Ibom Air and Akwa Ibom State’s growing aviation ambitions. The move is expected to improve connectivity, streamline passenger transfers and elevate the overall travel experience for domestic and international travellers.
