CITA Energies Limited has secured three major international certifications, reinforcing its operational credibility in Nigeria’s aviation support services sector. The certifications include globally recognised ISO standards covering quality management, environmental responsibility and occupational health and safety.
These international certifications: ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, place the aviation fuel solutions provider among organisations operating under structured global management systems. In addition, the certifications strengthen regulatory confidence and industry trust in the company’s operational processes.
The certifications were issued under the framework of the International Organization for Standardization, the global body responsible for setting international management standards across industries. These benchmarks are widely adopted in aviation, energy and infrastructure sectors to ensure consistency, safety and operational excellence.
International Certifications Strengthen Operational Standards
ISO 9001 focuses on maintaining consistent service delivery and quality assurance systems. Meanwhile, ISO 14001 requires organisations to adopt structured environmental management practices that minimise operational impact.
In addition, ISO 45001 emphasises strong occupational health and safety frameworks designed to protect employees from workplace hazards. Together, these standards represent a structured approach to governance, risk management and operational efficiency.
For organisations operating within the aviation ecosystem, such international certifications have become increasingly important. Aviation regulators and service providers must demonstrate management systems that align with global benchmarks. These standards support compliance with frameworks promoted by the International Civil Aviation Organization, which emphasises safety, environmental stewardship and operational reliability.
CITA Energies Highlights Institutional Discipline Behind Certifications
Executive Director, CITA Energies, Mrs Olaoye Titilayo stated that achieving the certifications required a fundamental shift in organisational thinking and governance structures. She noted that the process demanded a deliberate effort to examine internal systems and strengthen operational discipline.
According to Mrs Titilayo, the certification process pushed the organisation to improve governance, accountability and process consistency across its operations. She explained that credibility remains critical within aviation-linked services, particularly in areas connected to fuel supply and safety management.
She emphasised that the value of the international certifications goes beyond documentation. Instead, the company must maintain strict operational discipline to uphold the standards daily.
“In an industry where credibility is everything, these standards matter. They signal to regulators and partners that our commitment to quality, safety and environmental responsibility is institutional,” Mrs Titilayo stated.
However, she stressed that ISO certification is not the final goal but an ongoing commitment to operational improvement.
Independent Auditors Confirm Certification Process
Presenting the certifications, Managing Consultant, Finsbury Heinz Limited, Engr Jamiu Badmus explained that the audit process involved extensive evaluation of CITA Energies’ management systems.
According to Engr Badmus, the certifications were audited and issued by Blue Star Management System following internationally recognised assessment procedures. He added that the approvals are verifiable through the website of the International Accreditation Forum, which maintains global accreditation oversight.
Engr Badmus further explained that maintaining the certifications requires continuous monitoring and periodic independent audits.
“The first surveillance audit will take place next year, followed by a second review before recertification. The certifications last three years and must be renewed through the same stringent processes,” he stated.
This structured monitoring ensures organisations consistently comply with the standards rather than treating certification as a one-time achievement.
Aviation Industry Benefits from Global Best Practices
Industry observers note that organisations within the aviation ecosystem increasingly adopt international certifications to strengthen compliance with global regulatory frameworks. These standards help companies align with international aviation safety expectations and operational management principles.
Meanwhile, the adoption of ISO systems also improves transparency, operational reliability and environmental accountability across aviation-linked services. These factors remain critical as Nigeria continues expanding its aviation infrastructure and service delivery ecosystem.
With the triple certification, CITA Energies joins a growing group of aviation service providers implementing global best practices to support operational efficiency and safety within the industry.
In addition, such certifications enhance Nigeria’s aviation credibility by demonstrating that service providers are aligning with globally recognised operational frameworks.
For aviation regulators, operators and service providers, the move signals a gradual shift towards institutionalised standards capable of strengthening safety management and operational governance across the aviation value chain.
