Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc has secured a landmark deal to handle Air Tanzania ground services at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The partnership marks the first time Air Tanzania, the national flag carrier of the United Republic of Tanzania, will rely on SAHCO for passenger, baggage, ramp, cargo handling, and warehousing services. The airline will now connect its hub at Julius Nyerere International Airport, Dar es Salaam, with Lagos three times weekly.
Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of SAHCO, Mrs. Adenike Aboderin, said the development underscores the company’s growing reputation.
She noted, “We are thrilled to welcome Air Tanzania to Lagos and are honored they have chosen SAHCO Plc as their trusted ground handling partner. This contract with Air Tanzania is a testament to our team’s expertise, state-of-the-art equipment, and unwavering dedication to operational excellence and safety. We are fully prepared to support Air Tanzania’s new service, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience for their passengers and cargo.”
Air Tanzania was established in 2002 with a mission to enhance Tanzania’s economic growth and global connectivity. By expanding to Lagos, the airline is positioning itself to boost regional ties while SAHCO guarantees service reliability.
Meanwhile, SAHCO remains the only ground handling company present at all commercially operated airports in Nigeria. This nationwide coverage has made it a preferred choice for both new and existing foreign airlines. Many carriers have switched to SAHCO in recent years to enjoy its dependable and highly trained workforce that delivers services in line with international best practices.
In addition, SAHCO has invested heavily in modern ground support equipment (GSE). These machines run on alternative power sources and are rugged enough to operate in Nigeria’s demanding terrain. Designed to achieve zero carbon emissions, the equipment reflects SAHCO’s commitment to environmental sustainability, a growing global demand in aviation.
To further strengthen its profile, SAHCO recently secured another ground handling contract with Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s most connected carrier. Ethiopian Airlines operates daily flights from Addis Ababa International Airport to Lagos, and now enjoys the same trusted handling services Air Tanzania will benefit from.
SAHCO’s reliability is backed by globally recognized certifications, including RA3, ISAGO, ISO 9001, and ISO 27001. These credentials, alongside multiple awards from both local and international bodies, confirm the company’s reputation for safety, efficiency, and innovation.
Therefore, the new contract with Air Tanzania not only reflects confidence in SAHCO’s capabilities but also signals a stronger bridge between Nigeria and Tanzania’s aviation markets. With its advanced infrastructure, skilled workforce, and proven track record, SAHCO is positioned to deliver unmatched ground handling services for years to come.
