Nigeria’s Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo, signed a strategic MoU with Boeing to boost aircraft acquisition and MRO development. The agreement was signed in Seattle, USA.
Boeing and the Ministry of Aviation aim to enhance Nigeria’s aviation sector through this collaboration. The MoU includes technical support, maintenance, and operational efficiency.
The MoU explains that Boeing will leverage its extensive network of financiers and lessors to help Nigerian airlines acquire newer aircraft.
Moreover, Boeing will provide enhanced support to assist airlines with introducing Boeing aircraft, ensuring smooth integration into their operations.
Additionally, the agreement includes comprehensive training in airline operations and business models to improve Nigerian airlines’ practices and efficiency.
Furthermore, Boeing will grant Nigerian airlines access to its repository of maintenance documents, parts purchasing, and flight operations manuals, streamlining practices.
Collaborating with NCAA, NSIB, and ICAO, Boeing will work closely with regional regulators to strengthen safety oversight within Nigeria.
In addition, Boeing’s Airports Engineering team will offer consultation to expand airport capacities and provide advisory services on MRO development.
Speaking at the event, Nigeria’s Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo, SAN, stressed the MoU’s role in supporting Nigeria’s aviation sector’s growth.
“This partnership with Boeing represents a significant milestone in our efforts to modernize and enhance the capabilities of Nigerian airlines.”
He added, “The benefits of this MoU will be far-reaching, not only in improving operational efficiency but also ensuring safe, reliable air travel.”
Anbessie Yitbarek, Boeing’s Vice President of Commercial Sales for Africa, shared enthusiasm for the collaboration with Nigeria’s aviation stakeholders.

Yitbarek further remarked, “This MoU underscores our commitment to supporting the growth and development of aviation in Africa.”
The aircraft acquisition and MRO development deals coupled with other benefits will aid the country’s aviation industry to grow.
