Air Peace has denounced sensational claims of safety violations in the United Kingdom following a UK Civil Aviation Authority, UK CAA ramp inspection over the use of Electronic Flight Bags (EFB) and other concerns.
The airline explained to UK CAA that it received approval from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority for the EFB usage, and that all its Boeing 777 aircraft are certified to operate with EFBs.
Accordingly, they provided the necessary information and resolved the matter without issues. UK CAA ramp inspection.
Regarding the claims that its B777 aircraft lacks iPad mounts and charging ports in the flight deck, Air Peace explained. It said all B777 aircraft are equipped with charging ports in the cockpit, and the airline ensures that all its B777 aircraft have iPad mounts.
On the location of its cockpit library on the B777, it said the aircraft designates two locations for storing manuals and books. One behind the captain and one under the jump seat.
The flight crew stored the books under the jump seat during the inspection, following common practice.
“We understand that the inspector prefers placing the books behind the captain. We have ensured this for all future operations.”
Air Peace said the captain’s choice of runway exit after landing was out of his professional discretion. Instead of exiting at the middle runway exit, the captain opted to exit at the end of the runway.
“This may have delayed the arrival of another aircraft. We acknowledge this deviation and have addressed the matter with the captain. He would ensure adherence to preferred exit procedures in the future.
“Aviation authorities worldwide conduct ramp inspections routinely, and the UK CAA informed the NCAA about their inspection findings. Several exaggerated media publications about matters closed with the authorities over a month ago shocked the airline.
