UBA Vows to Drive African Economic Growth Through Mining, Oil Sector Support

Africa’s Global Bank, United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA), pledges to boost economic growth by maximizing benefits from mining and oil sectors.

Strategically, UBA plans to collaborate with Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS), advocating investor-friendly policies, and providing financial support.

At the just concluded 4th ECOWAS Mining and Petroleum Forum (ECOMOF 2024), UBA CEO, Abiola Bawuah, emphasized the bank’s role in shaping the African economic landscape. The event held at the Palais des Congrès in Cotonou, Benin Republic.

She advocated investor-friendly policies stressing that UBA support would catalyze the mining sector, transforming it into strong economic pillars boosting GDP.

“We believe that through collaborative efforts and sound financial strategies, we can propel the mining and oil industries towards sustainable development, unlocking their full potential for the benefit of the entire region,” she added.

The conference aimed to formulate attractive policies for investors, essential for the sectors’ substantial contribution to ECOWAS development.

During the session, UBA’s Head of Corporate and Energy Bank at UBA, Ebele Ogbue highlighted the pivotal role of National Oil and Gas Companies.
