Aviation unions in Nigeria demand a Board of Directors, exit from Treasury Single Account, and 40%  federal allocation deductions.

These demands, crucial for harmonious relationship with management, include  review of Conditions of Service and Housing/Rent Allowances.

Comprising unions like NUATE, ATSSSAN, ANAP, and NAAPE, they stress the necessity of Boards of Directors in aviation agencies.

TSA Removal & Federation Account Deduction:

Drisu Musa, NUATE Chairman, urges removal from TSA, citing its negative impact on oversight functions and revenue misinterpretation.

Highlighting the misconception, he appeals to the government for safety and security reasons, urging the exclusion of  NCAA from TSA.

”If an operator wants to use a simulator abroad, they approach the NCAA and  pay for our inspectors to go. Unfortunately, as soon as they pay that money into the TSA, 40% of that is removed as they consider it as revenue. ” He said.

“Please, we are appealing to the Government to remove the NCAA in the interest of safet flight operations safetyfrom the TSA.

Boards of Directors:

The gathering emphasizes the urgent constitution of boards for industry agencies, underscoring the pivotal role of Boards of Directors.

They call for revising the Conditions of Service within two months, addressing concerns about housing allowances and rent arrears.

Staff Welfare:

Acknowledging discussions with the Acting Director General, they anticipate improvements in housing allowances to accommodate staff comfortably.

Expressing challenges with current salaries in high-cost areas like Lagos and Abuja, they urge effective measures for a conducive housing allowance.

“ I don’t know where our salary of today can get us an apartment in Lagos, not to talk of some of those who relocated to Abuja.

“We are saying from this January management should put their acts together and provide conducive housing allowance for the staff of the NCAA.”
