Embracing “Shaping the Future: Trends in ATC Training,” the 34th Africa and Middle East IFATCA Conference unfolds from December 6 to 8, 2023, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Expecting 300 delegates from Africa, the Middle East, and beyond, the event features Festus Keyamo SAN, the Minister of Aviation, as the Special Guest.

Nigerian Air Traffic Controllers’ Association (NATCA) President, Mr. Abayomi Agoro, envisions industry stakeholders and CEOs attending the three-day event. Notable guests include Duncan Auld, IFATCA’s Executive President, and Fateh Bekhti, Executive Vice President for Africa and the Middle East.

Mr. Ahmad Abba, Regional Vice President for West Africa and General Manager of Air Navigation Standards at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, takes on the role of Chief Host. Agoro emphasizes Nigeria’s significant gains from hosting the conference, noting the last occurrence in November 2018.

Originally set for Algiers, Algeria, the 34th meeting faced hurdles, prompting NATCA’s invitation for Nigeria to step in. Agoro highlights IFATCA’s pivotal role in global aviation safety and its promotion of efficiency since its establishment in 1961.
