The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) celebrated one year of transformative leadership under Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar with a “Staff Recognition Dinner for Impactful Leadership and Team Excellence” at the Obudu Gardens of the Abuja Continental Hotel. The event highlighted the agency’s achievements over the past year while honoring hardworking staff during the “Hardworking Staff Recognition Award Night” for their dedication and contributions.  

In his remarks, Engr. Farouk applauded the exceptional efforts of the staff, stating, “The awards being presented tonight are not just plaques or certificates; they represent our appreciation for hard work, commitment, and the kind of excellence that drives NAMA forward. To the recipients, I say congratulations! This recognition is not just a reward but a reminder that your efforts do not go unnoticed. Let this achievement inspire you to even greater contributions. The “Hardworking Staff Recognition Award Night” celebrated NAMA’s progress over the past year, including improvements in safety, infrastructure development, and capacity building. Under Engr. Under Farouk’s leadership, the agency significantly reduced Air Safety Reports, improving aviation safety across the nation’s airspace operations. Refurbished control towers in seven major airports enhanced operational efficiency and improved air traffic control services for seamless aviation operations. NAMA invested in local and international training programs for personnel, ensuring alignment with global aviation industry standards and practices. Upgrades to solar-powered systems increased energy efficiency and reduced operational costs, promoting sustainable practices within the aviation sector. Achieving ISO 9001 Certification reaffirmed NAMA’s dedication to quality management and adherence to internationally recognized standards for excellence.

Staff welfare also saw significant improvements, with the clearance of outstanding allowances and the implementation of measures to ensure prompt payments. Engr. Farouk acknowledged these successes as the result of a collective effort, praising the dedication of both the staff and the management team.  

Directors ABBA Ahmad, mni, and Dr. Abdullahi Musa described Engr. Farouk’s leadership as visionary, highlighting his focus on operational excellence. They pledged continued support for his administration while celebrating the tremendous progress recorded under his stewardship.  

The dinner also featured games, karaoke, and dancing, creating a lively atmosphere. Staff expressed gratitude for the recognition and shared hopes for even greater achievements in the coming years.  

Appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on December 13, 2023, Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar has led NAMA with a clear vision and unwavering commitment to operational excellence.
