In a grand ceremony, MMIA Command bid farewell to Assistant Comptroller General Adeola Adesokan, promoted in December for outstanding achievements.
Embassy Diplomats, multinationals, and major partners actively participated, acknowledging Adesokan’s transformative leadership at Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
Impacts:
Formerly heading the MMIA Command, Adesokan’s brief yet impactful year left an enduring legacy. Recognized for her dedication, she revamped E-Arrival and Visa on Arrival offices, elevating service standards.
The dynamic ACG successfully secured additional check-in counters, enhancing facilitation at the MMIA terminal. She also championed the ‘One Impression’ Initiative delivered in less than 60 days.
Encomiums:
New Comptroller, CIS O.Y Odosote, praised Adesokan’s detail-oriented approach and multitasking prowess, expressing optimism about advancing the command.
ACG K.A. Sadiq of Zone A lauded Adesokan’s calm leadership, acknowledging her ability to maintain peace and order at MMIA. “I am happy about the way and manner she has handled the airport. Since her inception as Comptroller of this Command, I have not had cause to be summoned to Abuja to explain. Zone A has been calm. The ACG was represented by Comptroller Raphael Ojo.
Managing director of Shell Exploration and Production Company, Mrs. Elohor Aiboni, commended Adesokan’s focus and leadership, citing hope in Nigeria’s future. “Working with her for a few months shows Nigeria has hope as there are good leaders everywhere.â€
Retired ACG, Mrs. Doris Braimah, reminisced about Adesokan’s exemplary service during their time in Washington, describing her as diligent, reliable, and always eager to learn. Stephanie Eldrich representing the Diplomatic Corps.
Reaction:
Reacting to the avalanche of encomiums, Adesokan appreciated all stating that she was taken by surprise. She thanked all the partners, MTN, NNPC, Sterling oil, SPDC, KPMG and all others that made the job possible.
Adesokan was thankful for the Special promotion fastforwarding her four years into one. She said hard work played an important and her story can only encourage others to serve diligently.
The newly promoted ACG said each officer has left an indelible mark in her heart with the trials and challenges they have all undegone together. She was extremely thankful.
The ceremony featured notable figures like Senior Special Adviser Rotimi Durotoye and DCI Salisu Lawal.Highlights of the event was the toast to the outgoing ACG.
