Festus Keyamo, Nigeria’s Aviation Minister, stressed full Yamoussoukro Decision implementation is pivotal, targeting a 51% trade deficit reduction.

At the 24th Yamoussoukro Decision (YD) Week in Abuja, Keyamo emphasized YD’s role in the African Union’s long-term vision.

During the “Africa Wants To Fly” event, he urged leaders to integrate ideas for improved diplomatic relations and seamless intracontinental business.

Keyamo expressed optimism that the YD Anniversary Week celebration would inspire SAATM signatories to remove air service restrictions. Stating, “It is hoped that the YD Anniversary Week celebration would inspire countries signatory to SAATM (and who have not done so) to further remove restrictions on air services.”

Acknowledging AFCAC’s efforts, Keyamo applauded the successful launch of the SAATM Pilot Implementation Project (PIP) Cluster 1 Coalition Roadshow.

Notable stakeholders, including the President of AFCAC Silas Udahamuka, and various Aviation/Transport Ministers from African countriesparticipated in the event. Additionally, key figures such as HE Ebrima Sillah, HE Jimmy Gasore, HE Madut Biar Yel Akuei, and HE Veikko Nekundi were part of the gathering.

Dr. Emmanuel Meribole, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Aviation, Capt. Nuhu Musa, DG, NCAA, and Prof. Mansur Bako Matazu, DG, NiMET, also contributed to the collaborative effort.
