IFATSEA African Region Conference commences in Jo’burg

AIR Traffic Navigation Services(ATNS) SOC Ltd is hosting the 7th International Federation of Air Traffic Safety Electronics Associations (IFATSEA) Africa Region meeting and Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel (ATSEP) workshop this week at Monte Casino.
IFATSEA is the authoritative voice on the competence of air traffic safety electronics personnel. Through their global network this organisation actively contributes to the improvement of air traffic safety performance around the world.

The conference will see a host of delegates in the aviation industry gather to discuss vital issues of air traffic safety, to ensure the advancement of the sector in the African Region. Sponsored by ATNS, the conference will also see the launch SAATSEPA – South African Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel Association – a voluntary, independent, non-profit association of individuals exchanging experience and technical knowledge in the provision of engineering support for the Air Traffic Management community.
IFATSEA Africa Region Director Engineer Frank Kofi Apeagyei, as well as IFATSEA Vice President Theodore Kiritsis, respectively addressed the delegates – on matters of mutual interest, and outlined the conference’s main aims and objectives.
Among the topics covered will be the “Roadmap towards successful implementation of ATSEP Licensing – Perspective from Nigeria” by Engineer. Oragwu G. Ekemezie; Dr. Ian Joubert will deliver a paper on “Human Factors and Safety Management for ATSEP” and ATNS’s Phumelele Nomtshongwana will talk about “An interpretation of CNS equipment performance: perspective from ATC
The conference started yesterday, Tuesday 22 August and will end on Friday 25 August 2017. Responsible for approximately 10% of the world’s airspace, ATNS is dedicated to ensuring safety in the skies and understands the importance of collaboration with other African countries to foster innovation and technological advances.
