CHAIRMAN House Committee on Aviation, Hon Nkieruka Onyejeocha has given a pass mark to the Kaduna International Airport stating that the airport has passed minimum safety standards and requirements.
Onyejeocha gave the thumbs-up after inspecting the Kaduna International Airport currently serving as an alternative for the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) which is closed for runway repairs.
Already, the House Committee Chairman and her team have inspected ongoing rehabilitation of the runway at the Abuja Airport where they were told that works were 40% complete and that completion would beat deadline.
After inspection, guided by the Managing Director of the federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Engineer Saleh Dunoma and his team, Onyejeocha told reporters that the essence of the tour was to ensure that passenger comfort and safety were met stating that they have seen the perimeter fencing and all.
She said, “Generally speaking, we have come here to see and we hope that they would fast track everything so comfort and safety is ensured.”
On safety standards she said,” I won’t deceive anybody, they have achieved minimum safety standard and everything is geared towards safety of life and property so I think we are done for now.”
