GCAA, ICAO Forge Landmark Partnership to Empower Future Aviation Professionals

ICAO-GCAA Partnership: His Excellency (H.E.) Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the GCAA, and Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary General of ICAO, displaying the signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 24 May 2024 at the GCAA's office in Dubai.

The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) have joined forces to develop and empower the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP). Similarly, this partnership focuses on three main pillars: attracting, educating, and training the next generation of aviation professionals.

This collaboration aims to empower women in the aviation industry and foster education and in addition, share expertise through various initiatives.

On 24 May 2024, H.E. Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi and Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar signed a memorandum of understanding. This MoU was signed at the GCAA’s office in Dubai, marking a significant step in aviation collaboration.

H.E. Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “This collaboration marks a significant milestone in joint efforts between the UAE and ICAO. Moreover, by investing in the next generation of aviation professionals and supporting women’s empowerment, we are paving the way for a more dynamic, sustainable, and inclusive future for our industry.”

Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar echoed this sentiment, adding, “This strategic partnership between ICAO and GCAA represents a bold step forward. Our shared commitment to developing a skilled, diverse, and sustainable aviation workforce is demonstrated through this collaboration. By working together to attract, train, and empower aviation professionals, we lay the foundation for a brighter future. ICAO is proud to collaborate with the GCAA in this important endeavor, enhancing the global aviation community. We look forward to seeing the positive impact of our joint efforts on the aviation industry worldwide.”

Consequently, under the MoU, the GCAA and ICAO will develop programs, initiatives, and educational opportunities to attract aviation professionals. This partnership also supports women’s empowerment in aviation through initiatives creating equitable and diverse opportunities within the sector.

Moreover, the MoU fosters a culture of knowledge sharing by exchanging best practices, information, and resources related to aviation professional development.

This aims to cultivate an environment that nurtures innovation, progress, and development within the industry.

The partnership between the GCAA and ICAO is a significant step towards ensuring a sustainable, diverse future for aviation globally.
