AIR PEACE Limited says it has been able to save N985m each from the 13 brand new aircraft – E195-E2 it ordered from Embraer due to the waiver granted airlines on importation of aircraft as well as removing value added tax (VAT) from air tickets.
Chairman of Air Peace, Mr. Allen Onyema made this known after the airline sealed a deal with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) making the carrier the official airline sponsor of the Nigeria national teams.
Onyema said operators would continue to thank the current administration for harkening to their pleas and approving the waiver on import duty on aircraft purchase and importation of aircraft spares, as well as VAT removal on air tickets.
He said, “In Air Peace, we are a beneficiary of the Federal Government supporting indigenous investments. Before, we used to pay customs duty, VAT on imported aircraft. But I and Dr. Abdulmunaf (President of Azman Air and AON) took our matter to the President and the President granted us a waiver.
“The brand new planes Air Peace imported if we are to pay duty each one of them, it would be about 985million per aircraft. Now I am bringing 13 aircraft. So multiply N985million by 13. Let’s say almost a billion that the federal government and President Buhari have saved Air Peace, that’s about N13billion that I would have paid as duty.” He said.
