Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom reaffirms his support for the state’s tripod aviation ecosystem, urging the Federal government to collaborate. He emphasizes the transformative impact of the Ibom Air, Smart Terminal, and MRO projects on Nigeria’s aviation sector.

Participating in Ibom Air’s inaugural Uyo-Lagos flight, Governor Eno attributes the projects’ success to strategic vision. He highlights the need for partnership, particularly in establishing the MRO, as federal plans could take years.

“My role is to back their endeavors. Supporting this visionary initiative is paramount. Regarding our MRO, we’re ahead. Nigeria is yet to establish one; hence, we invite the Federal government to collaborate to expedite the process.”

Governor Eno underscores the state’s proactive approach, yielding results with the commencement of commercial flights. He envisions Uyo becoming the aviation hub for the West African coast.

“We aim for Uyo to serve as the region’s aviation hub. Our efforts in building the aviation ecosystem are evident. Visit us and witness our progress firsthand; we aspire to set the standard.”

Recall, the state has its MRO and smart terminal at near completion and has launched a successful airline expecting nine (9) of ten aircraft ordered having received the first last year. The State Eco system has been in the works from Governor Victor Attah, through Godswill Akpabio, Emmanuel Udom and now Governor Eno.
